Registration FAQs
Registration advising is NOT required for psychology majors. Still want advising? Go here first. Here’s how you can prepare yourself for registration!
1. Check your Registration Information Sheet (RIS) for your registration times and any holds; for questions about how access times are assigned, click here.
2. Review your Degree Audit to see which requirements you lack. Click ‘Run your Degree Audit.’
3. Look at your degree plan.
4. Look at the Spring 2025 course schedule for class options. Published October 01, 2024.
5. Check prerequisites by clicking on the unique number (blue 5-digit # on course schedule). The Psychology Department strictly enforces pre-requisites for psychology courses.
Registration Advising Options

If you have a quick, simple question, please first email your assigned advisor.
Advisors will reply in 2-3 business days. If your concerns warrant an appointment, your advisor will let you know.
Psychology majors may meet with any available psychology advisor.
- If there is a specific advisor a psychology major enjoys working with, they are welcome to email quick questions to that advisor directly.
- If a psychology major has NOT yet worked with a specific advisor or does not have a specific advisor preference, they are welcome to email quick questions to the advisor assigned to the section of the alphabet that contains their last name (see below).
- Psychology advisors make every effort to answer email correspondence in a timely manner. Please do not email the same question to multiple advisors.

Who? Psychology Majors
When? October 15– November 15, 2024, Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:00 AM CDT.
What? Limited to 5-10 minutes; quick Spring 2025 registration questions & Fall 2024/Spring 2025 graduation questions only.
How? Virtual drop-ins are available via WaitWell without the need for an appointment by visiting the PSY Advising Website. You may check upcoming virtual drop-in dates/time at our website. Please see these insturctions on how to join the WaitWell chat.
*Due to the high traffic during these weeks, in virtual drop in advising we will not be discussing ANY long-term planning, careers/graduate school. We are focusing on questions related to registration for Spring 2025 or graduation in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.*

How? Drop-ins are open for immediate, same-day (not in advance) booking via our online appointment system.

How? Appointments are available for booking up to 5 days in advance via our online appointment system.

Other Helpful Tips!
- If you are taking a prerequisite course (such as Math, hours to Upper-division standing) outside UT--you must transfer the course to UT beforehand, and/or show proof of completion in the course before you add the course. Documentation (such as a grade report) can be submitted to the Psychology Advising Office via email to psy-undergrad@utexas.edu
- Graduating Seniors: Registration issues with Psychology courses? Email your advisor as soon as possible!
- You can review Past Course Syllabi using the syllabi database.
- Check out our list of suggested PSY electives.
- If you are NOT able to come to advising during your assigned days, you will be able to schedule an appointment after registration to have your advisor check your schedule.
