Spring 2025 registration
Early registration for Spring 2025 ended on November 15. Registration will reopen December 16-20. Check your Registration Information Sheet for details.
Newly admitted students for Spring 2025, please do not schedule an appointment from this page. Spring Orientation is required and you will be assigned an advising appointment during Spring Orientation, January 6-8. Read more about Spring Orientation and register HERE.
Please see links below to schedule appointments if you are a currently enrolled student who is History major or wishes to declare the History major. Appointments are available through December 20, 2024 every day the University is open, and again starting January 2. Please know appointments will not be available for continuing students January 6-8, 2025 as we focus on orientees.

Our office in Garrison Hall (GAR 1.140) is genereally open from 9am-noon and 1-4pm, Monday through Friday. Please note that we do welcome walk-ins, but work primarily via appointment. If you walk in during a busy time, or when the advisors have appointments, we may triage your question quickly and direct you to schedule an appointment.
History Majors - In Person Appointments
We see students in our office, GAR 1.140. Since most advisors work a hybrid schedule, please note that you may be able to find an earlier appointment time, or more choice of times, by scheduling a virtual appointment.

All students declaring a history major must meet with an advisor for a "Declare the History Major" appointment. If you are currently in COLA, this is the only step you need to take to declare History.

If you are a UT student not currently enrolled in Liberal Arts, you should submit the UT Austin internal transfer application. Once you have submitted the application, you will be required to meet with an advisor before you can declare.

Academic Advising Coordinator
Susan’s time with the Department of History began in 2005 when she arrived in Austin to study early modern European history in graduate school. She began her career as an academic advisor for the Department in 2010. Over the years, she’s advised in History, Classics, and Philosophy, and in 2018 she returned home to Garrison Hall to lead the History advising team. Susan earned her BA in History and Philosophy from Washington & Lee University and her MA in History from The University of Texas at Austin. She is mom to two daughters who keep her busy with dance, Girl Scouts, and orchestra. Her husband teaches Economics at ACC. She loves Star Wars, figure skating, and urban transit.
