Geography Minor Requirements

If you are looking into getting a minor in Geography, the department offers a transcript-recognized minor for students. The Geography Minor provides a broad education consisting of Physical and Human Geography in addition to Geographical Technology and Methodology.

Requirements for Geography Minor (2018-20 catalog through 2024-26 Catalog):

  • One from: GRG 401C or GRG 301K
  • GRG 305
  • One from: GRG 410C or GRG 460G or GRG 462K
  • Six additional hours of upper-division Geography (GRG) courses

The Geography major requires students to also complete a transcript-recognized minor or certificate 

Geography students (2018-20 catalog through 2024-26 Catalog) must complete a certificate program or a transcript-recognized minor: http://catalog.utexas.edu/undergraduate/the-university/minor-and-certificate-programs/

  • Requirements range from 15 - 24 hours depending on the certificate or minor
  • NOTE: Not all departments and colleges offer a transcript-recognized minor or certificate, see academic advisor for more information about departments offering a transcript-recognized minor
