Academic Advising

The undergraduate advisor provides one-on-one advising regarding degree progress and planning, course registration issues, academic and career goals, university policies and procedures, campus resources, and any other academic issues that may arise. Anthropology Majors are encouraged to meet regularly with the advisor.

NOTE: there will be no appointments from August 24 - 31. Only drop-ins!

The ANT Advising office will hold drop-ins to check Fall 2026 schedules only. There will be Virtual & In-Person options.

August  24th, 25th and  Aug 31st: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

August 21st, 26th - Aug 28th: 9:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Appointments may be booked up to 7 days in advance. If you do not see availability, continue to check, as each day will open up new availability.
Example: Check Monday for the following Monday, Tuesday for the following Tuesday, and so on.

Regular ANT Drop-In Hours: Monday 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (Subject to change during first six class days, registration, and orientation periods, please check scheduling announcements below)

Please check-in and follow instructions in the lobby upon arrival. 

  • No Show/Cancellation Policy

    Students should make every effort to attend their scheduled appointment.

    Students who are more than 10 minutes late for a 30-minute appointment may be marked as a no show and asked to reschedule. 

    If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so at least one hour prior to the appointment's scheduled start time.

  • Zoom Appointment Info

    For Zoom appointments, students must use their UT Austin EID to access the meeting. When logging into Zoom, select SSO and use "utexas" as the Company Domain. This will prompt you to enter your UT EID and password. For more information on using Zoom, see this page. Students who continue to encounter difficulty using Zoom should contact ITS.

    Please ensure that your audio is working and have your camera on. 

     

     

    Want to make a registration change (Q-drop, withdraw, pass/fail) or apply to graduate?

    Advisors in the Student Division work with Liberal Arts students who are on academic warning or dismissal, applying to graduate, making a registration change (such as a q-drop, pass/fail, or withdrawal), appealing a policy, or experiencing an emergency. Student Division advisors serve students exclusively on a drop-in basis and can be connected with virtually via chat, in GEB 2.200, or by calling 512-471-4271.
